SOAR (Summer Orientation to Academics and Resources)

We each have a unique role to contribute to the education of a university graduate.

  • Your student’s role is to engage with the learning process and university life, and use the many Queen’s Academic Resources to reach their academic goals.
  • Your role as a parent or guardian is to support and encourage them, as you are able.
  • The role of the university is to provide opportunities for academic scholarship and research, and encourage students to experience social purpose and the Queen’s spirit.

Health, Counselling, and Disability Services offers information to help you understand some of the typical transition issues and developmental stages your student may experience.

Many of your questions may be answered through the‭ Resources for Parents and Guardians of Students page on the Queen’s University homepage,‭ ‬and you may find material on this site helpful in better understanding your student’s experience.
