Student Academic Success Services offers Master’s and Doctoral Thesis Support Groups two or three times per year. The groups are small, with a maximum of 12 participants, and the topics they cover are driven by group participants’ interests. Topics that are usually covered include

  • motivation
  • procrastination
  • writing strategies specific to different stages of the writing process
  • relationships and communications with supervisors
  • self-management
  • setting goals
  • resources
  • common challenges and shared strategies

The groups generally meet weekly for 90 minutes, for four weeks, and often informally continue as participant-driven writing groups. Many students find the session content, and their peers’ encouragement, very helpful as they work on writing their theses or dissertations.
